- Role: Management Accountant (2 year FTC)
Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £50-55k
The Management Accountant role is primarily a Financial Planning and Analysis focused position to support the business with decisions by producing Management Accounts, and guiding those decisions through forecasting, budgets and financial models. It involves analysing trends and performance metrics to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
Key responsibilities;
- Ownership of the monthly Management accounts.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify areas for efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
- Interpret financial data and results, providing insights to support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across MPIL to understand operational processes and financial implications. Support and mentor a small team.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models to evaluate various scenarios and their impact on the business.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable recommendations based on findings.
- Support and mentor a small team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Collaborate with project managers to evaluate capital expenditure proposals, ensuring thorough assessment of costs and expected returns.
- Support the Financial Controller in preparing reports for senior management, ensuring accuracy and clarity in financial data presentation.
- Prepare and analyse regular financial reports.
- Assist with the interim and annual external audits providing the necessary data and support.
- Regularly visit the Swansea warehouse to gain insights into operational costs and contribute to data collection for analysis. To learn the business and its operations as this is as pivotal to this role as accounting knowledge.
- Support the business with general ledger queries.
- Assist in the production of client and customer profitability analysis.
- Carry out MIDAS (Sales database) reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with Publishers, Suppliers, and internal departments.
- Have a flexible attitude and approach to any task which may, from time to time, be requested by management Commitment to our Delivering Excellence programme by following and demonstrating the key values.
Person Specification;
- CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification is essential.
- Discreet manner, able to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent Excel skills and be familiar with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A high level of organisation skill and initiative are pivotal to the role.
- Flexible and willing attitude, able to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrate good time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Able to build excellent relationships with the team, our Publishers and their customers Act professionally within the office environment.
