A busy and varied position, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance function across a multi-entity SME group, working closely with the Finance Director to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
This role will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting records in NetSuite, supporting month-end close, and assisting with inter company accounting, reconciliations, and statutory compliance. The successful candidate will ideally be part-qualified and keen to continue their professional development in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
Operating across multiple legal entities, the Assistant Accountant will contribute to the preparation of management accounts, VAT returns, and audit support, while helping to improve financial processes and controls as the business grows.

The role requires strong attention to detail, good technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities, while working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Key Areas of Responsibility of the Assistant Accountant:
* Maintain accurate accounting records in NetSuite across multiple legal entities.
* Post journals, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany entries.
* Assist with month-end and year-end close for multi-entity accounts.
* Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
* Support intercompany recharges and eliminations.
* Ensure consistency of accounting policies across group entities.
* Process supplier invoices and payment runs in NetSuite.
* Raise sales invoices and credit notes.
* Monitor debtor balances and support credit control.
* Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities.
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Assist in preparation and submission of UK VAT returns.
* Support compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
* Maintain audit trails and supporting documentation.
* Assist with payroll journals, pensions, and PAYE/NI postings.
* Support preparation of management accounts and reporting packs.
* Assist with year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation.
Desirable Requirements for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:
* AAT Level 3/4 or studying towards ACCA/CIMA.
* Accounting or Finance Degree (desirable) or other relevant qualification.
* 2+ years experience in a similar role.
* Experience working in a multi-entity or group structure.
* SME or fast-growth environment experience preferred.
* Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures.
